This role is based in one of our German offices and reports to the Head of the Innovation, Design & Technology, with a dotted line reporting to the COO of Germany. It drives innovation and change across our German offices and relevant practice areas, delivering legal transformation projects that enhance the quality, efficiency and value of legal service delivery. The role works closely with members of the IDT team to support innovation work across other European offices and broader EMEAPAC.
Key responsibilities include:
You have a legal background and ideally experience working in transformation, focused on innovation or technology. You are passionate about improving the delivery of legal services, possess a growth mindset, and are a team player and networker capable of building strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
You are a problem solver with a creative mindset, a leader and change agent who can inspire others to embrace new ways of working. You are resilient, flexible, and able to cope with ambiguity and pressure.
Leverage technology to enhance profitability and client satisfaction, advise lawyers on technology-driven improvements, explore innovative service delivery models across legal services, project management, and support functions, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Implement strategies for alternative service delivery by coordinating with legal teams. Monitor and report innovation performance to senior stakeholders, manage the deployment of Innovation-as-a-Service, and lead problem‑solving and process optimisation workshops using design thinking.
Engage with partners and lawyers to understand business challenges, pain points, and opportunities. Advise on how the legal transformation function can add value, build and present business cases, and qualify opportunities.
Collaborate with colleagues across the transformation function and other functions to drive change. Promote technology tools and platforms (including GenAI), manage project scope and timelines, and monitor, record, analyse, and communicate project metrics and outcomes.
Coach and train lawyers and staff on new tools and approaches, ensuring training incorporates relevant tools and design approaches. Infuse technology tools and design approaches into best‑practice guides, training materials, and onboarding programmes. Facilitate workshops and organise retrospectives.
Maintain awareness of latest legal innovation and technology trends, disseminate insights, integrate with local and regional technology ecosystems, and contribute to the firm’s digital transformation agenda.
