Senior Legal Counsel – Major Projects and Construction (m/w/d)

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will steer the legal framework for major projects from origination to operation. You will draft and negotiate complex EPCM/EPC/D&C contracts, advise on risk and compliance, and ensure cross-functional alignment across procurement, development, and operations. You will lead claims management and coordinate with external counsel and stakeholders to protect the company’s interests. This role combines strategic contract work with hands-on project support in a fast-growing, sustainability-focused company.

• Draft, review, and negotiate project contracts (EPCM, EPC, D&C, framework, consultancy)
• Advise on rights, obligations, risk mitigation, and claims prevention
• Support sourcing, tendering, and commercial negotiations with contractors and suppliers
• Drive contract consistency across projects and contribute to standard contract development
• Provide end-to-end legal support across project lifecycle (origination to operations)
• Support land acquisition, permitting, and regulatory approvals
• Collaborate with Supply Chain to implement contracting strategies for operations
• Lead management of construction, procurement, and commercial contract claims
• Coordinate with external legal counsel and technical experts for disputes and settlements

• 5-10 years post-qualification experience in a leading law firm and/or multinational in-house team
• Extensive experience in project development, construction law, procurement, and complex contract drafting/negotiation
• Experience with large-scale projects in renewable energy, industrials, utilities, mining, or similar sectors
• Knowledge of project delivery frameworks and permitting/public law matters (VOB/B, FIDIC)
• Experience managing contractual claims and disputes across project lifecycles
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams across multiple jurisdictions
• Fluency in German and English (written and spoken)
• Strong commercial judgment, pragmatic problem-solving, and comfort engaging senior leadership
