Senior Sales Representative – Central Region

Stellenbeschreibung:

The Senior Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth, pipeline development, customer engagement and regional market expansion across the Central Region. The position will focus on selling MGI sequencing platforms, automation solutions, reagents and service-related offerings to academic, clinical, diagnostic, commercial and public-sector customers. The successful candidate will manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through proposal, negotiation, closure and post-sale customer development, while working closely with Field Application Scientists (FAS), service, marketing, product management, finance, legal, logistics and other supporting departments.


The position requires a hands-on, field-oriented sales profile with strong NGS market knowledge, willingness to travel frequently, and the ability to mentor or coach colleagues as the regional team develops.


Location open in Germany; locations with easy access to major airports and regional travel preferred.


Key Responsibilities


Sales Growth & Territory Development



  • Develop and execute territory plans to achieve quarterly and annual order entry, revenue, pipeline and forecast objectives.

  • Identify and qualify new opportunities across sequencing, automation, library preparation, consumables, services and strategic projects.

  • Manage the full sales process, including lead follow-up, customer discovery, solution positioning, quotation, tender support, negotiation and closing.

  • Build and maintain a healthy opportunity pipeline in CRM with clear next steps, probability, timing and forecast accuracy.


Customer & Territory Management



  • Build trusted relationships with researchers, lab managers, clinicians, procurement teams, technical stakeholders and senior decision-makers.

  • Understand customer workflows, budgets, timelines, pain points and competitive context to position MGI solutions effectively.

  • Support customer retention and expansion through regular follow-up, post-installation engagement and cross-selling of additional instruments, reagents and services.

  • Represent MGI professionally at customer meetings, roadshows, workshops, conferences and regional events.


Cross-functional Collaboration



  • Work closely with FAS teams to coordinate demonstrations, technical discussions, evaluations, trainings and application support.

  • Coordinate with service, logistics, finance, legal, marketing, product management and other supporting departments to ensure smooth project execution and customer satisfaction.

  • Support preparation of proposals, tenders, business cases, pricing requests, installation plans and customer-facing materials.

  • Escalate commercial, technical or operational risks early and help coordinate practical solutions with internal stakeholders.

  • Track competitor activities, pricing trends, procurement dynamics, market developments and customer feedback in assigned territory.

  • Provide timely forecasts, meeting reports, pipeline updates and business reviews to management.

  • Share market insights with internal teams to support product positioning, marketing activities and regional strategy.


Team Contribution, Mentorship & Coaching



  • Act as a senior team contributor by sharing sales best practices, customer insights and practical coaching with junior or newer colleagues when required.

  • Support onboarding or mentoring of future sales team members, including guidance on territory planning, CRM discipline, customer follow-up and opportunity qualification.

  • Contribute positively to regional team culture, collaboration and performance improvement.


Requirements



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in molecular biology, genomics, life sciences, biotechnology, biomedical sciences or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.

  • Proven sales or business development experience in NGS, genomics, life science instrumentation, diagnostics, automation, molecular biology products or related technical solutions.

  • Strong understanding of NGS workflows, sequencing platforms, sample preparation, automation and customer decision processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales cycles, customer negotiations, tenders and multi-stakeholder projects.

  • Strong communication skills with both technical and commercial audiences, including customer presentations and internal business reviews.

  • High motivation, resilience, ownership, customer‑centric mindset and ability to work independently in a field‑based environment.

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the assigned region and occasionally internationally for customer visits, events, training and internal meetings.

  • Fluent English and German required

  • Valid driving licence preferred.


Preferred Profile



  • Existing network among academic genomics, clinical genetics, pathology, diagnostics, CRO/CDMO, agri‑genomics, pharma or biotech customers in Germany and Central Europe

  • Experience selling capital equipment and recurring consumables business models.

  • Experience working with FAS/service teams to support demos, evaluations, and post‑sales implementation.

  • Ability to coach colleagues and contribute to a high‑performance sales culture.
