Senior Staff Frontend Engineer (d/f/m)

In this role you will help shape the frontend experience for eBay’s Shipping domain. You will lead the development of modern web applications using React and TypeScript, influencing technical direction and roadmap. You’ll collaborate across product, design and backend teams to deliver scalable, accessible features for millions of users. The role combines hands-on coding, architecture, and mentoring within a fast, product-focused engineering culture. This is an opportunity to impact how sellers ship their wares at scale.

• Translate product problems into cross-component frontend solutions balancing UX, performance and maintainability
• Lead frontend architectural decisions and drive system-level innovation
• Define and uphold frontend engineering standards and contribute to the roadmap
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and structured feedback
• Build accessible, performant React/TypeScript applications with clean, documented code; conduct code reviews
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to plan milestones, estimate work, deliver features, and maintain tests

• Bachelor in CS or related field with experience designing and developing scalable web apps in Agile/Scrum with CI/CD
• Deep expertise in React and TypeScript; strong grounding in browser rendering, network performance, accessibility, and modern JavaScript (ES2020+)
• Experience designing and maintaining design systems or component libraries; proficient with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing (Jest, Playwright, Cypress)
• Experience collaborating with backend teams on RESTful or GraphQL API contracts and integrating with microservices
• Experience influencing technical direction, mentoring, and raising frontend capability across teams
• Familiarity with frontend observability tooling (web vitals, error tracking, real-user monitoring) is a plus
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) is a strong plus
