Software Engineer - Frontend

In this role you will shape Helsing's frontend foundation and lead a small, autonomous team across multiple products. You’ll own the UI end-to-end, from wireframes to production-ready code, and evolve a reusable React component library that aligns with our design standards. You’ll collaborate with product and UX to improve usability and end-user experience while mentoring others and contributing to frontend standards. This is a mission-driven role at the intersection of innovation, ethics, and robust deployment in a defence context.

• Own the frontend stack from concept to production, collaborating with product and UX to optimize user interactions
• Lead and expand the frontend team, driving impactful work across internal products
• Propose and implement new features, tooling, and visualizations across the stack
• Evolve and maintain a React component library with consistency and reusability
• Contribute to frontend standards and tooling to improve efficiency and quality
• Mentor team members and support the interview process
• Share knowledge through internal tech talks and study groups
• Coordinate with backend teams to improve integrations and navigate unfamiliar codebases
• Present work in weekly demos to gather feedback and align with company priorities

• Write legible, maintainable frontend code using TypeScript and React
• Experience with APIs and client-server communication (REST, GraphQL)
• Experience running a live production software
• Stay updated with development practices, libraries, and frameworks
• Comfort with unfamiliar backends, some exposure to Rust preferred but not required
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
• Collaborative mindset with code reviews and pair programming
• Ability to work asynchronously (PRs, RFCs, email discussions)
