Space Structural Analysis Engineer – FEA & Simulation

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and mechanical analysis to support and influence spacecraft design decisions
• Build, validate, and optimize complex finite element models (modal, dynamic, thermal, and related analyses)
• Conduct simulations using ANSYS (APDL/Workbench) and/or FEMAP with NASTRAN for space applications
• Interpret simulation results and ensure alignment with engineering requirements and design constraints
• Document assumptions, limitations, and findings in detailed technical reports and presentations
• Support results with hand calculations, scripting (Python/MATLAB/FORTRAN), and spreadsheet-based verification
• Collaborate with internal teams, partners, and suppliers to improve design and interface solutions
• Master’s or PhD in Structural, Mechanical, or related Engineering field
• Minimum 3 years of professional structural analysis experience in the space or aerospace sector
• Experience with FEMAP and NASTRAN
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB/Octave, or FORTRAN
• Strong knowledge of hand calculations and Excel-based validation methods
• Experience with Git version control
• Excellent English skills (C1 level, written and spoken); German is a plus
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle complex simulation models
• EU work eligibility without restrictions
• Desirable: experience with non-linear FEA and familiarity with ESA/ECSS standards

This position is intended for candidates with more than 3 years of professional experience.

The salary range varies depending on experience, between €70,000 and €90,000 gross per year.

Work model: Full-time, primarily on-site (home office days can be arranged after onboarding with a hybrid setup).
