Overview

In this role you will support Copernicus missions from ESOC in Darmstadt, focusing on spacecraft operations across mission phases. You’ll develop and maintain flight procedures, monitor health via telemetry, and contribute to planning, commissioning, and decommissioning activities. You will drive process improvements, automation, and operational readiness while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a high-tech, international setting. This position offers challenging tasks, on-call support, and opportunities for growth within Terma’s space operations portfolio.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Prepare, validate, and maintain spacecraft operational procedures and flight operations documentation
  • Execute spacecraft operations across mission phases (LEOP, commissioning, routine, contingency, end-of-life) including sending commands and sequences
  • Monitor satellite status through telemetry analysis, trends, and anomaly detection
  • Assist configuration, commissioning/decommissioning plans and procedures
  • Support mission planning and automation of operational processes
  • Prepare mission reports and operational documentation; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop strategies for operating aging/degraded spacecraft
  • On-call support for operations
  • Collaborate with other service providers and participate in technical reviews
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Relevant experience in Spacecraft Operations engineering is advantageous
  • Experience with Copernicus Sentinel missions is desirable
  • University degree in engineering, astronomy, mathematics, or physics
  • Experience in flight procedure preparation and operational documentation
  • Experience in spacecraft operations, including routine and contingency operations
  • Experience with mission control systems and operational tools
  • Experience in ground segment engineering
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and operational constraints
  • Experience in anomaly investigation and recovery
  • Experience in operational simulations, validation campaigns, and readiness activities
  • Fluency in English; ability to work in teams and independently
  • Ability to adapt to changing tasks and manage multiple activities
