Specialist - Data Protection, Data Protection Function(AD6)

In this role you will help ensure Europol’s compliance with data protection laws by developing policies, conducting risk assessments, and guiding data protection matters. You will work within the Data Protection Function under the Data Protection Officer to advise on rights requests, reporting, and safeguarding operational and administrative personal data. The position offers exposure to cross-border cooperation within an international setting and significant impact on data governance at Europol. You will engage with national authorities and EDPS while shaping privacy controls in a complex regulatory environment.

• Handle data subject requests across access, rectification, and erasure with timely responses
• Liaise with Member States authorities and national supervisory authorities on data protection matters in law enforcement
• Advise on EDPS complaint cases related to data subject access requests
• Contribute to the development and update of data protection policies, procedures and guidelines
• Support reporting and compliance activities for protection of personal data
• Conduct regular assessments of data processing activities to identify risks and compliance gaps
• Contribute to obligations under PNR, SIS, and other relevant instruments
• Respond to EDPS requests and implement EDPS recommendations
• Perform other duties in data protection area as assigned by line management

• EU national with full rights
• Fulfillment of military service obligations where applicable
• Good character references
• Physically fit for duties per CEOS Article 13
• Proficiency in one EU language and satisfactory knowledge of another

• Knowledge of Regulation (EU) 2018/1725, Regulation (EU) 2016/680 and/or Europol Regulation, GDPR
• Understanding of data protection principles and technical/organizational measures for protecting data
• Experience drafting regulatory instruments, decisions or opinions in data protection
