Tasks

If you have an entrepreneurial mindset and the courage to shape the future, our 18‑month Start up! Trainee Program provides the ideal environment to learn, grow, and develop. You will gain broad insights into our organization while being encouraged to step outside your comfort zone, explore new areas, and unlock your full potential.

Take ownership of your career: You will complete five project assignments. Your first assignment will be within HR. After that, you can select your remaining assignments individually from opportunities across the entire Deutsche Telekom Group.

Step outside your comfort zone: After your first assignment, you decide which areas you would like to explore in greater depth. Throughout the program, we encourage you to challenge yourself and discover new fields within Deutsche Telekom. Our extensive network will support you along the way.

Expand your network and experience the trainee community: Fridays are reserved for Magenta Friday, when all trainees come together to work on strategic and innovative growth topics beyond their individual project assignments. Trainees collaborate in different teams to organize events, drive their personal and professional development, or contribute to social initiatives.

Go international: A leading digital telecommunications company without international experience? Unthinkable! One of your three‑month assignments will take place abroad. You decide which country and city you would like to experience.

Understand our business: Take the opportunity to experience Deutsche Telekom’s operational business first‑hand. During our Service Days, you can gain direct insights into how we interact with our customers. Choose from experiences such as spending a day in customer service, visiting a Telekom Shop, or joining one of our service centers. You will see first‑hand how we turn customers into fans every day.

Choose your start date: You can join the program at the beginning of any quarter. Simply discuss with your contact person which start date works best for you.

Profile

You have successfully completed a degree in engineering, business/economics, or a comparable field. We welcome candidates with all degree levels, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral degrees.

You bring the following skills and experience:

• Technical expertise: Ideally, you have knowledge of information technology, particularly in one or more of the following areas: Technology and infrastructure: e.g., cloud technologies, networks, mobile communications, 5G, IoT, programming, or software development
• Digitalization and processes: e.g., process analysis and design, automation, digital transformation, or the implementation of digital solutions
• Cybersecurity and information security
• Project management: You have gained initial project experience and are able to plan tasks, bring different stakeholders together, and collaborate effectively to implement reliable solutions.
• Data analytics: You have a strong understanding of data and are able to analyze technical, operational, or process‑related data to support evidence‑based decision‑making and make improvements measurable.
• Employee‑centric mindset: You are a passionate team player and enthusiastic about creating outstanding experiences for our employees.
• Relevant experience: You have gained at least six months of relevant internship or professional experience in areas such as service, B2B or B2C environments, or data‑related functions.
• Understanding of corporate strategy: You have a fundamental understanding of how corporate strategies contribute to achieving business objectives.
• Intercultural competence: Internationality is at the heart of our Start up! community. Strong intercultural skills are therefore essential. International experience – for example through studying abroad, Work & Travel, or a comparable experience – is a requirement (at least three months).
• Commitment and entrepreneurial spirit: As a Start up! trainee, you are passionate about driving change and making things happen. Experience in social engagement and/or entrepreneurial projects is therefore highly valued.
• Language skills: You are fluent in both English and German, written and spoken, at C1 level.
