Electrical Engineer for Quality Assurance (all genders)

The GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerators for science. Currently, the new FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) is under construction through international cooperation. GSI and FAIR offer the opportunity to work in this international environment with a team of employees committed to world‑class science.

We are looking for the earliest possible date for the group Quality Assurance (PMO-QUA).

Responsibilities

• Ensure the quality assurance of electrotechnical components of the FAIR facility during both construction and operation
• Monitor compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and safety requirements; approve or block components as part of the QA process
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality assurance measures and objectives, including tracking deviations and initiating corrective actions
• Review quality‑relevant documents (e.g., specifications, contracts, test plans, conformity reports) and support acceptance testing (FDR, FAT, SAT)
• Participate in design reviews and acceptance tests; provide QA support for the assembly, testing, and documentation of electrotechnical systems (e.g., switchgear, RF systems, magnet systems)
• Design and implementation of quality assurance measures for the commissioning of the FAIR facility

Profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification, with relevant professional experience in the field
• Initial experience in quality management and quality assurance methods (e.g., audits, FMEA), and either familiarity with standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13849, DIN‑VDE, EMC Directive)
• Knowledge of software development or automation technology is an advantage
• Knowledge and experience in documentation as well as in the processes of acceptance testing and commissioning of electrical systems and installations are desirable
• Experience in working with suppliers, intercultural competence, and willingness to undertake occasional business travel
• Strong analytical and process‑oriented thinking, with a structured and solution‑driven approach
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey quality assurance requirements
• Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken
• High attention to detail, confident demeanor, and strong methodological and social competence
