Head of Heating Operations

We are hiring a Head of Heating Operations to lead and shape the operational backbone of a growing heating and cooling portfolio. This role sits at the centre of delivery, performance, and customer experience — taking systems from project readiness through to long-term operational success.

You’ll be responsible for building robust operational processes, leading a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring systems perform reliably, compliantly, and commercially once live. This is a senior role with real influence across projects, partners, and strategy.

• Own the operational setup of heating and cooling projects prior to go-live, ensuring systems, data, contracts, and documentation are in place.
• Coordinate closely with engineering, commercial, finance, and legal teams to ensure smooth readiness for delivery.
• Manage operational agreements and support funding and regulatory submissions where required.
• Take responsibility for systems once installed, overseeing the transition from delivery partners into live operations.

Live system oversight

• Monitor operational performance across heating and cooling assets, identifying issues and driving resolution.
• Ensure assets operate in line with regulatory, technical, and contractual requirements.
• Maintain oversight of service partners responsible for maintenance and ongoing support.

Commercial operations

• Ensure contracts for heat and gas supply are operational and correctly structured.
• Oversee billing processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and a strong customer experience.
• Ensure metering and data capture support reliable and auditable invoicing.

Customer & service management

• Own customer-facing service processes, including ticketing and issue resolution.
• Ensure customers have clear access to support and that on-site systems are clearly documented and signposted.

Process, systems & improvement

• Define and maintain operational standards, procedures, and handover frameworks.
• Continuously improve workflows to increase efficiency, transparency, and scalability.
• Lead or support the rollout of operational software and digital tools.
• Lead and develop an operations team, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Act as a key interface between internal teams and external stakeholders such as suppliers, service providers, property stakeholders, and customers.
• Provide operational insight into project selection, delivery planning, and partner engagement.

Data & performance insight

• Own operational data across the asset lifecycle to support reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
• Maintain dashboards and management tools that support informed decision-making.

About you

• Strong background in heating, energy systems, or technical operations , with leadership experience.
• Comfortable managing complex operational environments involving multiple stakeholders.
• Commercially aware, with experience overseeing billing, contracts, and service delivery.
• Confident people leader who can balance hands‑on problem‑solving with strategic thinking.
• Process‑driven, organised, and motivated by improving how things work.
• Digitally confident, with experience using operational platforms and performance data.
