Staff Computational Biologist

Staff Computational Biologist - Permanent - Full Time - 2 days a week onsite in Berlin

Maintain and improve internal omics data processing pipelines within a shared code environment. Contribute to developing Python-based workflows for large-scale processing of proteomic, genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic datasets.

Collaborate with research teams on best practices for computational biology analyses, assessing feasibility and supporting the effective presentation of biological data.

Translate outputs from machine learning models into testable biological hypotheses and validate them through in-silico analyses using both public and internal datasets.

Share knowledge with colleagues by mentoring team members and staying current with advances in computational biology methodologies, particularly in oncology research.

What we are looking for

PhD or MSc in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.

3+ years of relevant experience in industry or applied research environments (e.g., biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or similar sectors).

Demonstrated publication record in computational oncology or related research areas.

Advanced programming skills in Python and R, with the ability to prototype analyses and develop computational solutions efficiently.

Strong commitment to scientific rigor and interest in the rapidly evolving field of computational oncology.

Broad experience working with multi-omics data (e.g., DNA, RNA including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, CRISPR screens, ChIP-seq, methylation, proteomics) and applying appropriate statistical analysis methods.

Solid understanding of cancer biology and genetics.

Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration, including data visualization and presentation.

High learning agility and attention to scientific quality.
