Associate Director IT Procurement

As Software Category Lead, you shape the global software sourcing strategy within BioNTech’s procurement function. You partner with R&D, clinical, and digital teams to align software investments with scientific goals and regulatory requirements. You lead end-to-end sourcing, negotiate contracts, and manage a diverse SaaS and digital platform supplier ecosystem. You drive process improvements and digital enablement to accelerate speed, quality, and cost efficiency in software procurement.

• Develop and implement a global software category strategy aligned with R&D, clinical, and enterprise objectives
• Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives (RFI/RFP/RFQ) for software solutions and conduct negotiations
• Manage supplier relationships and performance across SaaS and R&D digital platforms
• Oversee contract lifecycle, renewals, amendments, and change controls with compliance and data governance
• Drive procurement process improvements, automation, and data-driven decision making

• 5–7 years in procurement, category management, or vendor management, with at least 3 years focused on software/IT
• Experience in enterprise SaaS negotiations, software licensing, cloud solutions, and R&D digital platforms
• Experience in multinational life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical environments
• Familiarity with regulated environments and cross-functional collaboration
• Strong strategic sourcing, category management, and stakeholder influence skills
• Knowledge of GDPR, cybersecurity, and vendor risk management in software procurement
• Strong analytical, data-driven mindset with market benchmarking and decision-making
