Database Administrator, Global

As a Mid-level Database Administrator at Vantage, you will install, patch, and manage SQL Server and Ubuntu Linux environments while overseeing cloud database resources. You’ll write queries, develop schemas, and optimize performance to support reporting and applications. The role also focuses on data protection, high availability, and data migrations, contributing to scalable, reliable data infrastructure. You will work with cross-functional teams to improve automation and documentation, while supporting on-call needs and cost management.

• Install, patch, upgrade and manage Microsoft SQL Server databases
• Administer Ubuntu Linux servers
• Manage storage capacity and data archiving/migration
• Ensure regular backups and validate restores
• Provide tables, views, stored procedures, and functions for reporting and apps
• Manage database partitioning as needed
• Assist users with data requests and query tuning guidance
• Manage cloud-based database resources and related costs
• Maintain documentation of the database environment
• Manage database users and access
• Migrate data between database platforms (e.g., MySQL to PostgreSQL)
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies

• 2-4 years of production database administration with Microsoft SQL Server
• 1-3 years experience with PostgreSQL (a plus)
• 1-3 years of production Linux server experience
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
• Bachelor in a quantitative field or Engineering (or equivalent)
• Experience with reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI, SSRS) a plus
• Experience developing in Python, Java, C#, or Go a plus
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Willingness to travel (<5%, may increase)
