Director, Team Lead, Computational Pathology Products (m/f/d)

In this role you drive end-to-end development and regulatory-grade deployment of AI-powered computational pathology products. You lead a cross-functional team to deliver clinically impactful solutions, aligning scientific capabilities with regulatory requirements and business goals. You will shape QA, data governance, and partnerships with vendors, academia, and clinical collaborators. Your leadership will shape our CP product strategy and ensure auditable, high-quality outcomes. • Lead a cross-functional team delivering regulated CP products for clinical use and align with business objectives; coach and develop team members.
• Develop and improve quality-managed processes in partnership with Quality Management; ensure IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 compliance and AI/ML governance.
• Act as SME for partnerships with vendors, academia, and clinical collaborators; support audits with technical evidence and process documentation.
• Interface with software development to define tooling, platform, and infrastructure for AI model training, validation, deployment and orchestration.
• Align with data and pathology teams to establish data acquisition, annotation and ground truth processes with quality and traceability for regulated AI.
• Collaborate with product management to define roadmaps and prioritize deliverables balancing scientific and regulatory needs.
• Advance AI model development, validation methodologies, and reproducible MLOps practices; set standards for performance, fairness, and generalizability.
• Initiate collaborations to access new scientific developments and manage external partnerships for clinical validation studies; lead briefings with external stakeholders.
• Anticipate investigations and issues; engage experts to devise solutions and evaluate external opportunities influencing strategy.

• PhD (or equivalent) in computational science, machine learning, biomedical engineering, computational pathology, or related quantitative field
• Minimum 10 years’ AI/ML development experience in medical or life sciences; at least 5 years leading cross-functional teams
• Expert in deep learning model development, training, and evaluation for medical image analysis; focus on computational pathology
• Domain knowledge in SaMD, AI validation, and regulated product development with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971
• Experience supporting or reviewing regulatory submissions (FDA, EMA, IVDR) for AI-enabled diagnostics or SaMD
• Strong programming skills (Python, R or equivalent) with PyTorch and TensorFlow; experience with CI/CD and Git
• Experience in study design, validation planning, and reporting for regulated AI products
• Knowledge of data analysis, statistics for data distribution, imbalance, bias detection, and quality assessment in medical contexts
• Proven ability to lead diverse teams of scientists, pathologists, software engineers, statisticians, and QA professionals
• Excellent written and oral English communication; ability explain complex concepts to varied audiences
