EMEA Compliance Officer (m/f/d)

Overview

As the Compliance and Data Protection Leader for the EMEA region, you will drive the regional compliance program and oversee data protection initiatives under the KION framework. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to GDPR, other international laws, and our ethical standards. This hands-on role focuses on policy development, risk management, training, and incident handling, with a clear impact on trust with customers, regulators, and employees. You’ll report to the Compliance Officer and lead regional data protection coordinators and compliance representatives, shaping how we operate across multiple countries.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Set the regional compliance strategy and update local policies and procedures
  • Manage day-to-day compliance program operations (training materials, risk assessments, whistleblowing, third-party screening, conflicts of interest)
  • Collaborate with sustainability, legal, HR, Internal Audit, Internal Investigations to align compliance activities
  • Promote integrity and accountability through ongoing education and communication
  • Advise business units on data protection matters in international contexts
  • Assess projects for GDPR, Data Act, AI Act compliance and draft/maintain DP documentation (records of processing, privacy notices, DPAs)
  • Handle data protection incidents and support communications with authorities and data subjects
  • Conduct data protection audits and deliver training; implement DP policies and evaluate new technologies
  • Collaborate with IT, HR, and other departments; deliver regional compliance and data protection trainings
  • Report status of compliance and DP/DP metrics to local and regional leadership
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Legal/Law Degree and first state examination completed (or comparable degree)
  • At least two years of data protection experience in an international corporate setting
  • Deep knowledge of compliance and data protection law (GDPR) and international requirements
  • Excellent analytical and structured, solution-oriented working style
  • Fluent in English
