Ground Gas Specialist, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), WHS Due Diligence and Remediation

Overview

In this role you will lead Amazon’s ground gas program in Europe, partnering with global teams to develop standards, policies, and mitigation strategies for safe facilities. You’ll assess risks, review designs, and oversee OMM activities to ensure compliance and effective risk management. Your work will span construction, operation, and maintenance, with extensive travel across the EU. You will communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders to drive a standardized, high-quality program.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Serve as the single point of contact to internal teams for Europe-wide ground gas program execution
  • Perform due diligence reviews of properties to evaluate ground gas risk
  • Review mitigation system designs, construction plans, startup testing, and OMM data
  • Oversee field personnel during construction, startup, and operation to verify design and operating assumptions
  • Lead and coordinate OMM activities, including scope development, scheduling, and action follow-ups
  • Support various stakeholders (legal, owners, construction, transaction, operations) on ground gas risks and systems
  • Train and mentor facility operations teams on mitigation systems and monitoring equipment
  • Review contractor and consultant work for compliance and quality
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Represent Amazon to owners, consultants, and legal teams to maintain professional relationships
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field (Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Environmental/Civil Engineering or related)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience in compliance, audit, or risk management
  • Proven experience as environmental technical resource, program specialist, or project manager with a focus on ground gas
  • Experience in development and implementation of standards, policies, and programs related to ground gas and vapour intrusion
  • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and monitoring of ground gas/vapour intrusion systems (ideally with remote monitoring)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to send clear, concise messages verbally and in writing
  • Capacity to work with cross-functional and matrixed teams
