Adjunct Faculty History – UMGC Europe

Location: Grafenwoehr, Germany

Required Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in History or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Professional experience in History or a related field.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
• Local applicants only.
• Adjunct faculty positions are not eligible for UMGC-sponsored logistical support.
• Applicants must maintain their own legal status in the country where they apply to teach.

• Unofficial transcripts for all conferred degrees with conferral date
• For selected candidates with international degrees: translation/degree evaluation from a NACES‑approved vendor may be required.

Adjunct Faculty Role at UMGC

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and convey genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
• Guide students in active collaboration and application of their learning in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for student assessment and acknowledging accomplishments.
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
• Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.

Every new faculty member must successfully complete the online new faculty orientation, FacDev 122, before hire.

• Hiring range by degree (per credit hour): Non‑PhD Step 1 $903 – Step 16 $1,173; PhD Step 1 $931 – Step 16 $1,215.
