As Lead Human Pharma Public & Government Affairs for Obesity and Metabolic Health, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to engaging with policymakers around the world to enable the access and uptake of life‑changing pharmaceutical innovation. The role is part of the Public & Government Affairs function in the Corporate Affairs division, delivering integrated campaigns to drive meaningful policy change in particular areas of healthcare. The position is based at our Global Headquarters in Ingelheim, Germany. We especially welcome applications from candidates with experience in policy shaping focused on Obesity and Metabolic Health, with the therapeutic focus able to shift based on business need.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Ensure the development and implementation of integrated campaigns in alignment with colleagues in the Corporate Affairs division, establishing alliances for awareness raising and targeted policy prioritization.
• Lead policy and stakeholder mapping to position the company for key therapeutic areas within the Human Pharma business, create clear policy positions, and support evidence generation to enable global and country teams to engage with policymakers.
• Enable Public & Government Affairs capabilities and execution with a focus on the EU5, US, China, and Japan.
• Support the Head of HP Public & Government Affairs by coaching country teams in developing clear strategic, tactical plans with measurable policy outcomes.
• Act as the main contact person for assigned therapeutic areas and partners, providing strategic counsel and serving as an expert in international health policy and country‑level policy change.
• Establish strong cross‑functional relationships with Communications, Market Access, Medical, Marketing, Legal, and Compliance teams.

Requirements

• Master's degree in politics, health policy, sciences, economics, law, or equivalent experience.
• Several years of experience in a Public & Government Affairs role, potentially in‑house, a consultancy, or directly in government.
• Deep understanding of healthcare policymaking at national and global levels, including the role of the pharmaceutical sector.
• Business know‑how to succeed in a global, matrixed organization, able to lead without direct management responsibility.
• Demonstrable experience delivering integrated campaigns to drive meaningful policy change.
• Extensive experience building external relationships that drive policy change.
• A true therapy‑area policy leader with a co‑creative mindset and the ability to build trust across the business.
• Experience ensuring successful delivery in line with Legal and Compliance requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
