Patent Attorney for Lititgation (m/f/d)

We're a 30-attorney firm, based in Munich, and we work on the plaintiff side in high-tech patent disputes – representing patent holders, from the technical groundwork through to the courtroom.

The Role

Pre-Litigation and Analysis:

• Patent portfolio assessments and analysing patent families
• Preparing claim charts to build the infringement case
• For standard-essential patents, mapping claim features against 3GPP or codec specifications
• Validity assessments to stress-test the patent before asserting it
• Infringement opinions that reach a clear recommendation on enforcement

Litigation:

• Drafting and filing infringement actions
• Defending the patent's validity against nullity attacks and oppositions
• Preparing and attending hearings before the UPC, the leading German infringement courts, the Federal Patent Court, the Federal Court of Justice and the EPO
• Coordinating parallel proceedings across divisions and jurisdictions, working with foreign counsel and technical experts

Who You Are

• A degree in (electrical) engineering, physics, computer science or a comparable field
• Fluent English, spoken and written; German and other languages useful but not always required, depending on the client and matter

What Sets You Apart

• Knowledge of 3GPP, Wi-Fi or video coding standards, or codec licensing
• Experience reading source code or examining how a product is implemented
• Background in telecommunications, semiconductors, software, electronics, connected cars or physics
