Senior AI/ML Data Engineer – Robotics & Drones (f/m/d)

As a Senior AI/ML Data Engineer at Aptiv, you own end-to-end data processing and dataset lifecycle to develop, train, validate, and continuously improve AI/ML systems for robotics platforms. You’ll transform raw sensor recordings into trustworthy training and test datasets via scalable, automated pipelines. You’ll collaborate with AI/ML, perception, validation, and platform teams to ensure data is available, traceable, and ready for model development and evaluation. This role offers impact across data quality, deployment readiness, and benchmarking at scale, within a mission to advance autonomous mobility.

• Design, develop and maintain automated data processing pipelines transforming raw sensor data into ML-ready datasets
• Create scalable, reproducible workflows for the complete AI/ML development lifecycle
• Improve pipeline reliability, scalability, maintainability and performance
• Own dataset lifecycle management for model training, validation, benchmarking and regression testing
• Automate dataset creation, ensure traceability, reproducibility and version control
• Define automated data quality checks and verify data integrity after processing
• Manage dataset distribution across file systems, cloud environments, and training infrastructure
• Develop dashboards and reports to monitor data size, growth, quality, coverage of scenarios, ground-truth quality and AI/ML readiness KPIs

• 5+ years of experience in large-scale data processing systems, data pipelines or ML data infrastructure
• Strong Python skills and production-quality software development
• Experience with data engineering frameworks, ETL workflows, and distributed processing
• Experience handling large-scale sensor data (cameras, radar, LiDAR, IMU, GNSS)
• Understanding of data quality management, validation, and pipeline monitoring
• Experience with dataset versioning, reproducibility, and data lineage
• Strong knowledge of Linux and software development best practices
• Experience with cloud or distributed computing environments (Azure, AWS or similar)
