Senior Automation Project Engineer (d/f/m)

In this role you steer automation initiatives aligned with Industry 4.0/5.0, enabling autonomous operations across sites. You’ll define scalable, compliant technology solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and document project plans from budget to rollout. You’ll lead design, commissioning, and start-up, monitor costs, and build partnerships with technology vendors. You drive standards, cybersecurity, and organizational adoption of digital tools, acting as a change agent for human–machine collaboration.

• Evaluate and propose automation solutions aligned with Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 for autonomous operation
• Define scalable, industry-compliant tech solutions ready for multi-site rollout with cross-functional feasibility assessment
• Create comprehensive project documentation including budget, schedule, and resources
• Complete detailed design and construction, organize commissioning and start-up
• Monitor and report actual cost/progress versus budget and plan
• Build strategic relationships with technology partners and vendors for long-term automation goals
• Capture lessons learned and implement ongoing standards enhancements
• Ensure automation standards meet industry regulations and cybersecurity requirements
• Act as a change agent for digital adoption and promote human–machine collaboration

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Automation, or related field
• 5 or more years of relevant working experience in industrial automation and digital transformation projects
• Strong knowledge of Industry 4.0/5.0 technologies and standards
• Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Familiarity with cybersecurity and regulatory compliance in manufacturing environments
• Fluent English and German skills
• Willingness to travel through EU about 20-30%
