(Senior) Product Engineer - Heartbeat (m/f/d)

In this role, you help build the Heartbeat AI-powered virtual power plant, delivering energy market solutions within a cross-functional team. You co-own features from framing to production, with AI-powered tooling amplifying impact. You will shape architecture and product direction while delivering fast, reliable software in production. You join a fast-growing energy tech scale-up driving the transition to renewable energy and smarter energy systems.

• Own feature development end-to-end, from problem framing through production deployment to long-term maintenance
• Define feature scope with PMs and focus on the 'why' behind the work
• Drive technical decisions and guide engineers on architectural choices
• Keep feedback loops short: prototype, ship to real users, observe, adjust
• Use AI tools to amplify impact and explore AI-powered product opportunities
• Push back when something doesn't make sense and propose better direction
• Improve developer experience by reducing tech debt, automating workflows, and documenting decisions and runbooks

• Solid backend engineering skills with distributed systems experience; TypeScript is a plus but not required
• Experience with at least one frontend framework
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability tooling; understand production environments
• Proven ability to own features end-to-end from problem statement to shipped product
• Product-minded with a focus on user problems
• Experience working in cross-functional teams with PMs and designers
• Comfortable with ambiguity and proactive in seeking what’s needed to get the job done
• Excited to leverage AI tools, including agentic coding, to boost impact
