(Senior) Systems Safety Engineer - Land

In this role you will define and drive a comprehensive System Safety and Functional Safety program for Helsing’s AI-driven defence platforms. You will embed safety from architecture through development, coordinating with systems, software and hardware teams to standardize safety processes. You’ll perform hazard analyses, map safety requirements, and build strong safety cases to enable safe deployment. • Establish, implement and maintain the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) per MIL-STD-882E
• Lead hazard analyses (PHA, SHA, SSHA, OSHA) per MIL-STD-882E
• Define Functional Safety Concepts (FSC) and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC)
• Derive and manage software/hardware functional safety requirements with end-to-end traceability
• Author Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Logs and Functional Safety Cases
• Act as primary safety point of contact for engineering teams; guide safety-aware design and lifecycles
• Provide safety reviews, audits, and certification support with stakeholders and regulators

• Expertise in MIL-STD-882E in defense/aerospace environments
• Expertise in ARP4761A and ARP4754B for mixed militarily/civil certifications
• Strong grasp of functional safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 26262)
• Systems engineering background with requirements traceability using Jama Software, IBM DOORS
• Proficiency in FTA, FMEA/FMECA, FHA
• Excellent communication to translate safety concepts for multidisciplinary teams
• English fluency; German a strong asset
• Experience with safety case delivery and hazard management
• Ability to lead cross-functional safety initiatives
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or MBSA is a nice-to-have
