Simulation Engineer - Space

In this role, you will design and maintain simulation environments for large satellite constellations to enable mission analysis and fast, trustworthy decisions. You will integrate real hardware and software-in-the-loop setups, validating models against flight data and informing trade studies and design choices. You’ll work with partners to align models and hardware fidelity, ensuring end-to-end simulations drive credible outcomes. This mission-driven position combines advanced simulation, physics modelling, and cross‑team collaboration in a domain where safety and ethics matter.

• Build and maintain simulation environments for large constellation mission analysis
• Create hardware-in-the-loop rigs with real hardware linked to automated test and release pipelines
• Model physics (orbital/attitude dynamics, sensors, actuators, thermal, RF) and validate against test/flight data
• Translate simulation results into trade studies, requirements evidence, and design recommendations
• Collaborate with partners/suppliers to integrate models and hardware and resolve fidelity discrepancies
• Communicate results and limits to non-specialists across organizational boundaries

• Proven delivery of both software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop systems with real hardware in a simulator
• Strong physics and modelling judgement
• Several years of production-grade software work in a large, shared codebase with CI, testing, and documentation
• Python, plus Rust or modern C++
• Ability to architect an environment serving fast batch runs and full-fidelity validation with real-time considerations
• Comfortable cross-organizational collaboration and explaining results to non-specialists
