Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Laser welding

In this senior role you will lead laser welding support across global plants, drive technical standardization, and assess feasibility for welding technologies and AI-driven software. You will guide equipment selection, process optimization, and data integration to create smarter, data-driven welding systems. You’ll collaborate with design, SMTE, and production teams to deliver cost-effective, scalable welding solutions while exploring innovative AI applications. This is a hands-on, strategic position at a global automotive supplier shaping welding standards and digital transformation.

• Global plant support for laser welding and related processes
• Standardization and feasibility assessment for laser welding and alternative welding methods
• Pilot AI/software solutions in welding; monitor trends and evaluate payback
• Market observation of welding and AI trends; stay current on technology
• Payback analysis for potential welding applications
• Welding machine concepts and designs (LCC, MCC, HCC); fixture concepts testing
• Standardize PFMEA for welding; advise on rework concepts with design engineering
• Support equipment specification with detailed technical instructions
• Integrate welding data and AI-driven insights into a unified software system with online knowledge base

• 10+ years in welding, primarily laser welding, in automotive Seat Structures and Mechanism operations
• Experience with Trutops, Precitec, fixture adjustment, robot programming, cut and etch analysis, CMM/gauge validation
• Deep understanding of welding process data and validation through analysis and decision trees
• 3D CAD design experience; GDT and tolerance stacking
• Layout creation, PFMEA, time analysis, cost calculation for welding processes
• Willingness to travel to suppliers and plants; advanced English
