Forward Deployed Application Engineering Chief Expert (f/m/d)

In this role you design, build, and deploy AI-native data and application solutions embedded in customer environments. You act as a technical authority, shaping architecture and delivery standards for complex, business-critical apps that align with SAP’s strategic objectives. You’ll drive high-impact programs across cross-functional teams, ensuring scalable, secure outcomes and advancing SAP’s AI roadmap. This is a role for a leader who bridges strategy and execution, delivering real-world impact through innovative AI-enabled engineering.

• Define architecture and technical strategy for AI-native enterprise applications with high business impact
• Govern delivery across multiple high-risk programs to align with SAP’s objectives
• Embed into customer projects and cross-functional teams to map processes and challenges
• Escalate and resolve complex technical and delivery risks at enterprise scale
• Champion advanced AI-assisted engineering approaches to gain competitive advantage
• Represent SAP as a trusted technical authority with senior stakeholders
• Provide technical vision, standards, and guidance for consistency and scalability
• Mentor senior engineers and enable knowledge sharing across the community

• Deep expertise in AI-native applications or software engineering across enterprise architectures
• Proven track record leading complex, high-impact programs and influencing technical direction
• Experience with agentic AI, autonomous AI agents, and collaboration with human stakeholders
• Advanced knowledge of large-scale AI systems, LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, and agentic systems
• Proficiency in AI/ML Python libraries, data pipelines, MLOps, and agent-driven engineering
• Ability to advise senior stakeholders on strategic technical decisions and trade-offs
• Recognition as a trusted authority in application engineering
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring in complex, ambiguous environments
