GNC Engineer - Mission Analysis (m/f/d)

Overview

In this role you will lead mission analysis for upcoming launch missions, maintaining and improving a high-fidelity 6DoF/3DoF simulation environment and driving analysis-derived insights for flight readiness. You will collaborate with Propulsion, Structures, and Mission & Launch Operations to shape mission processes, develop automation, and support CI/CD pipelines for reliable simulation workflows. You will also contribute to regulatory analyses and act as the primary GNC interface to the MLO team, ensuring rigorous analysis traceability and impact-driven decisions.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Lead mission analysis activities for launch missions, including performance assessment and trajectory evaluation
  • Own technical data interfaces with cross-disciplinary teams (Propulsion, Structures, MLO)
  • Develop, run, and analyze Monte Carlo simulations for performance, robustness, and success probability
  • Maintain and extend 6DoF/3DoF simulation environments with traceable results
  • Support trajectory design and optimization using high-fidelity and reduced-order tools
  • Build automated analysis pipelines, reports, and post-processing frameworks
  • Design and maintain unit/integration tests within CI/CD workflows
  • Contribute to regulatory and flight licensing analysis documentation
  • Own payload controller functionality and serve as the GNC interface to MLO
  • Improve mission analysis methodologies, processes, and documentation standards
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mathematics or similar
  • Minimum 3 years in mathematical modelling and development/verification of GNC algorithms
  • Strong MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow/autocoding background
  • Experience with orbital vehicle mission analysis
  • Proficiency with ASTOS or similar trajectory optimization tools
  • Python data analysis (frequency and time domain)
  • C/C++ flight software development
  • Knowledge of rigid and elastic body dynamics and orbit mechanics
  • Experience with large software projects using Git
  • Experience with Jira or similar project management tools
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams
