Lead Systems Engineer - Passive RF Sensing

Overview

In this role you will lead end-to-end integration of airborne passive RF sensors, translating threat scenarios into concrete sensor requirements and directing verification to deliver a ready-to-deploy system. You will shape antenna architecture for robust direction-finding, manage emitter data, and coordinate co-site EM compatibility to protect sensitive receivers. You’ll oversee supplier relations and drive a rigorous verification campaign with software and avionics teams. This role offers impact at the intersection of advanced sensing, defence, and ethics, with opportunities to work alongside world-class experts.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Direct integration and performance of passive RF sensors from requirements to flight test
  • Translate mission threats into measurable sensor requirements and define direction-finding antenna architectures
  • Specify and validate sensor performance, focusing on direction-finding accuracy and RF distribution
  • Oversee emitter libraries, classification workflows, and confidence metrics
  • Coordinate co-site and EM compatibility measures with onboard transmitters to implement desense, blanking, and filtering
  • Lead verification and test campaigns, including data interfaces with software and avionics teams
  • Manage technical supplier relationships, reviewing specs, tests, and change requests to close issues
  • Apply best practices to ensure sensor readiness for operational use
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline
  • Delivered passive RF sensors for airborne or complex platforms from concept to integration
  • Understand threat radar phenomenology and can convert scenarios into measurable sensor requirements
  • Expertise with direction-finding architectures, error budgeting, and calibration
  • Ability to specify and validate receiver performance using laboratory and flight data
  • Experience implementing electromagnetic compatibility mitigation on platforms with strong transmitters
  • Collaborative cross-functional communicator
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Willingness to engage in healthy technical debates
