Mechanical Design & Routing Engineer (m/w/d)

Overview

In this role you own the mechanical design of Avionics Units within the Harness & Structures team, collaborating with electrical, structures, propulsion and sensor groups. You manage interfaces, requirements verification and design rules, driving on-time, on-budget delivery. You will plan, model and document harness paths for current and next-generation launchers, and enable production with clear instructions and fixtures. You thrive in fast-paced R&D and shape cross‑disciplinary solutions that impact mission success.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Lead mechanical design of Avionics Units and manage interfaces with electrical and system owners
  • Plan, model, and document harness routing for current and next-generation Launcher
  • Own design configuration, requirements tracking and verification
  • Develop and maintain design rules and company-wide standards
  • Collaborate with structures, propulsion, sensor and actuator teams to align requirements
  • Create production-ready documentation: assembly instructions, drawings, work instructions
  • Design test fixtures, jigs and assemblies for development and testing
  • Identify process improvements to reduce costs and errors
  • Support integration, testing and production activities ensuring manufacturability
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design from concept to production
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX)
  • Experience in metallic component production and DFMA
  • 3D harness design and routing (bundling, clamping, path definition)
  • Understanding of materials, thermal, FEM analysis
  • Ability to interpret system-level diagrams and wiring schematics
  • Experience with vibration and shock testing
  • Strong communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Fluency in English
