Principal Research Scientist - Product Development (m/f/d)

In this role you lead formulation development for animal health drugs as part of Elanco's Synthetic Technical Development team in Monheim. You will guide OS D formulations from early concepts to commercial scale, collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams. You will tackle complex formulation challenges with QbD expertise and oversee external partners, driving projects from lab to market. • Design, develop, and optimize Oral Solid Dosage formulations (tablets, medicated chewables) from prototype to full-scale production
• Apply advanced formulation skills across granulation, blending, compression, coating, bioavailability enhancement, controlled release, and taste masking with QbD
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams to meet global development milestones
• Provide technical oversight to CROs and CDMOs, ensuring GMP/HSE/SOP compliance
• Prepare and review CMC sections for regulatory submissions; assess new technologies and in-licensing opportunities; mentor scientists and SMEs

• Pharma drug product development and process scale-up experience
• Strong experience in OSD formulation development and manufacturing processes (tablets and/or chewables)
• Knowledge of GMP and global regulatory guidelines (VICH, ICH)
• Proven track record of bringing products from lab to commercial scale
• Leadership and cross-functional collaboration in a global matrix environment
