Principal Software Engineer - Desktop and Mobile Applications - Roon

In this role you will architect and deliver cross-platform desktop and mobile audio software, shaping high-performance experiences for HiFi enthusiasts. You will lead cross-platform initiatives, mentor team members, and drive architecture decisions that improve scalability and reliability. You will tackle low-latency audio streaming, networked content management, and cross-device consistency, contributing to Harman’s mission of innovative audio experiences. • Architect, develop and maintain cross-platform desktop and mobile apps (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux); ensure seamless experiences
• Lead cross-platform initiatives using C# and .NET to improve scalability and product evolution
• Design and optimize systems for audio content management, metadata, and low-latency streaming; leverage network protocols and concurrency
• Serve as technical leader and mentor; promote best practices in architecture, performance profiling and troubleshooting
• Identify and address delivery risks; communicate complex concepts to stakeholders and align engineering with business goals
• Drive innovation in audio streaming and system architecture to enhance UX, performance and reliability

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with end-to-end project delivery
• Extensive experience with C# and .NET technologies
• Strong systems software understanding (storage, processing, memory, filesystems, networking, concurrency)
• Knowledge of network protocols and cross-platform development (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with Docker, VMware, Hyper-V and packaging for these environments
