Position: Permanent employee, Full‑time

  • Munich, Berlin or Dublin with availability to be 3 days per week at the office.

This role will be instrumental in delivering our ambitious growth objectives for this product in Germany and other key European markets.

As a (Senior) Business Operations Manager (f/m/x) you will join our Payroll Business Operations team, reporting to the Payroll’s Business Operations Lead, who reports into the Revenue Operations Team at Personio.

This role will play a key role in laying and improving the foundations for Payroll across Personio’s cross‑functional teams, encompassing Product, Operations, Sales, Legal and Marketing. Additionally, you will support Payroll's Business Operations Lead in establishing an operational rhythm to drive collaboration and accountability in our fast‑paced execution environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Define, run and improve business performance processes – manage the reporting and tracking of Payroll and its key initiatives by developing a comprehensive dashboard with key OKRs and operating metrics, primarily focused on customer funnels.
  • Develop mechanisms to facilitate decision‑making, promote accountability, and monitor progress across critical business initiatives.
  • Deliver operational projects – steer cross‑functional teams to deliver strategic, organisational, and operational projects designed to increase revenue, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Data analytics and business intelligence – perform analyses, derive insights, and define resulting actions for topic areas such as budget planning, partnership strategies, or lead generation activities.
  • Stakeholder management – work with and positively influence cross‑functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations.
  • Executive communication – develop dashboards, presentations, and documentation to communicate results in a succinct, easy‑to‑understand manner to all levels of the organization.
  • Co‑pilot the business – always think two steps ahead to identify gaps and deliver operational improvements that will enable us to continue scaling exponentially.

Sought character traits and expectations

  • Well‑versed in ambiguous and constantly changing business environments.
  • Front‑line experience in go‑to‑market roles is a strong plus, ideally in sales, partnerships or channel management.
  • Execution focus – instead of just advising, you like to own and drive things yourself. You don’t rest until the rubber hits the road.
  • Project management expertise – you know how to plan, manage and steer projects to ensure high‑quality deliverables and impact.
  • Business analytics and visualization – you love data and enjoy building analyses and dashboards, using Google Sheets/Excel and PowerPoint. Advanced skills such as SQL, Tableau, Python are a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working, collaborating and communicating exceptionally well with multiple stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
  • B2B SaaS sales processes and tools: knowledge of key SaaS metrics and experience with CRM software, e.g., Salesforce.
  • Growth mindset – you are on a mission to learn and grow, and enjoy challenging yourself.
  • English business fluency is required; German is a plus.

At Personio, we value in‑person collaboration while also offering flexibility. The role is office‑based, with 3 days per week required in your contracted office location. The remaining days can be worked from home or in the office if you prefer. In addition, you’ll have 20 Flex Days per year to work remotely from other locations.
