Data Scientist - AI Search & Ranking

In this Data Scientist role within the AI Search team, you shape how millions of travelers discover and compare hotels across languages and countries. You build AI-powered search components that blend semantic understanding with personalized ranking, influencing product decisions and user satisfaction at scale. You’ll work with ML engineers and product teams to turn data-driven insights into robust, production-ready systems. • Analyze large datasets to uncover patterns and inform decisions on search quality and user behavior
• Develop and productionize algorithms using predictive, statistical, ML, or deep learning techniques for search and ranking
• Design scalable search architectures integrating semantic retrieval, query understanding, and Learning-to-Rank with production-ready performance
• Drive end-to-end ML solution delivery from concept to deployment, ensuring robustness at scale
• Provide quality checks and mentorship, sharing best practices across the team
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver ML systems impacting millions of travelers

• 5+ years in search, information retrieval, NLP, ML, or deep learning with demonstrable product impact
• Deep expertise in semantic search: query understanding, embedding-based retrieval, vector databases, Learning-to-Rank
• Proficiency with LLMs and transformer architectures (BERT, T5, GPT) including fine-tuning and prompt engineering
• Strong Python and SQL skills with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or HuggingFace
• Solid foundation in statistics, ability to design/execute/analyze large-scale A/B tests and apply causal inference
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to mentor juniors and explain complex ideas
• Master’s or PhD in relevant field
