Mechanical Ground Systems Engineer (f/m/d)

Overview

In this role you shape the Ground Systems infrastructure that enables our launches. You work within the Ground Systems team to design and validate mechanical ground subsystems and interfaces, collaborating with Propulsion Technology and Launch Vehicle to ensure requirements drive robust ground support. You will perform design, analysis, manufacturing planning, and on-site integration support for critical equipment like launch tables and transporters. Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Own mechanical subsystems within larger projects and manage related requirements
  • Define Engineering Change Requests and coordinate across stakeholders
  • Advise on mechanical/structural ground system design when applicable
  • Design, plan, and iterate subsystems using CAD tools and simulations
  • Create manufacturable drawings and BOMs for subsystems
  • Perform subsystem-level and architectural trade-offs
  • Select and procure hardware based on requirements
  • Write technical documentation, conduct design reviews and risk assessments
  • Support commissioning planning and on-site coordination during commissioning
  • Travel to construction and test sites for on-site tasks
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • B.Sc./M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Strong knowledge of structural/mechanical engineering for heavy (steel) structures
  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Siemens NX) with GD&T and design for manufacturing/assembly
  • Good knowledge of mechanisms engineering (kinematics, engagement mechanisms, levers, actuation)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly procedures
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate theory into practical solutions
  • Hands-on integration, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
  • Adaptability to changing priorities
  • Organized, detail-oriented team player
  • Proactive, open communication even under pressure
