Systems Engineer - Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)

As a Systems Engineer for EMI, you own the end-to-end EMI/EMC lifecycle for airborne platforms, turning electromagnetic requirements into measurable subsystem specs and an EMC control plan. You lead electromagnetic modeling to optimize antenna placement and mitigate interference, collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to manage complex architectures. • Own end-to-end EMI/EMC engineering for the airborne platform, including the control plan, compliance roadmap, and integration strategy across subsystems
• Translate platform-level EM environment requirements into subsystem EMI/EMC requirements and KPIs
• Define and maintain the EMC Control Plan (grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, cable segregation)
• Perform EMI analysis across emissions, susceptibility, and coupling
• Lead EM modeling and simulation for antenna placement, cable coupling, shielding, and lightning/HIRF effects
• Define zoning, grounding, and bonding architecture including lightning protection and return paths for metallic and composite structures
• Support antenna integration and placement trade studies (pattern degradation, isolation budgets)
• Establish EMI/EMC qualification/verification strategy against standards (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, DO-160, STANAG)
• Own EMI/EMC test campaigns (plans, procedures, chamber/on-platform testing, corrective actions)
• Coordinate cross-functional design decisions with airframe, avionics, EW, comms, propulsion, power, and mission computing; manage EM trade-offs
• Own EMI/EMC interfaces and ICDs (grounding, shielding, filtering, connectors)
• Manage supplier governance for EMI/EMC compliance and non-conformance closure

• Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
• Proven EMI/EMC engineering experience for airborne platforms with end-to-end ownership
• Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory (transmission lines, antennas, wave propagation, shielding, grounding, coupling)
• Ability to translate platform requirements into subsystem specifications and verification criteria
• Familiarity with NATO/STANAG or national airworthiness frameworks
• Hands-on experience with EM simulation tools for antenna placement, coupling, shielding, HIRF, lightning analysis
• Experience designing grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, and cable segregation for complex platforms (including composites)
• Experience leading EMI/EMC test campaigns (chamber, on-platform tests, flight test verification) with instrumentation/data analysis
