Principal Field Application Engineer

In this role you evolve Wind River’s technology strategy for enterprise customers across EMEA, shaping cloud-native architectures on mission-critical platforms. You will partner with CTOs and senior leaders to drive multi-year digital transformations, guiding architecture across cloud, edge, and AI-enabled infrastructure. You’ll influence product direction and deliver high-impact, trusted advisory engagements that unlock new revenue and customer outcomes. This is a senior, externally-facing technical leadership position with global visibility and strategic influence.

• Act as the senior technical authority for strategic customer engagements across EMEA
• Develop trusted relationships with CTOs, Chief Architects, CIOs and other senior technology decision makers
• Translate customer objectives into technology strategies and Wind River-based solutions
• Lead technical strategy for large, multi-year digital transformation programmes
• Provide architectural leadership across Cloud, Kubernetes, Enterprise Linux, Virtualisation, Edge Computing, AI infrastructure and mission-critical platforms
• Drive solution innovation to identify new revenue opportunities within existing accounts
• Lead technical governance through strategic sales engagements from qualification to award
• Own the technical architecture for complex RFP/RFI responses involving multiple vendors
• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to influence future product direction
• Represent Wind River at executive briefings, industry events and customer workshops
• Produce architecture documentation, executive presentations and technical strategy papers
• Mentor solution architects and pre-sales engineers to promote best practice
• Contribute to industry thought leadership via white papers and advisory engagements

• Extensive experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture or Chief Architect roles in enterprise software, cloud infrastructure, telecoms or industrial markets
• Proven success engaging at C-Level, especially CTO organisations
• Experience leading technical strategy for large, complex, multi-year programmes
• Strong track record in managing high-value RFPs with multi-vendor ecosystems
• Experience developing architecture across hybrid cloud, private cloud and edge environments
• Strong commercial awareness balancing customer outcomes with technical excellence
• Experience supporting strategic customers across EMEA and working with international organisations
