Senior Scientist - Hydrocolloids Application (m/f/d)

In this role you advance hydrocolloid solutions for food and beverage applications and support cross‑sector innovation, including non‑food uses. You will lead hands‑on lab and pilot studies, guide project teams, and shape technical strategy with customers. The position offers scope to influence product development, regulatory readiness, and market-driven R&D in a sustainability‑focused company.

• Design and execute lab‑ and pilot‑scale experiments to develop hydrocolloid applications in foods and beverages
• Apply hydrocolloid knowledge to solve formulation and processing challenges
• Contribute to cross‑sector projects, including non‑food applications (e.g., personal care, industrial)
• Manage assigned projects with timelines, tasks, resources, and reporting to ensure timely results
• Lead external collaborations and research programs aligned with scientific and business objectives
• Act as a domain expert in customer interactions, providing guidance on selection, formulation and troubleshooting
• Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer trainings
• Gather market feedback and translate needs into R&D priorities
• Mentor junior scientists and support teams in experimental design and problem solving
• Coordinate product launches from an application development perspective
• Represent the company at external scientific forums and build visibility in the hydrocolloids community
• Engage with strategic project managers to define scope and ensure cross‑functional alignment

• 10+ years of hydrocolloid experience in industrial R&D
• Proven track record of scientific innovation (patents, publications, or product development)
• Deep expertise in physical chemistry of hydrocolloids, rheology, formulation, and application development
• Experience managing complex projects and external collaborations
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, industrial processes, and market requirements
• Excellent written and spoken English; German and/or French are a plus
• Strong communication skills with ability to influence scientific and business stakeholders
