Staff Data Scientist - Trading (d/f/m)

In this Staff Data Scientist role you shape the technical vision for algorithmic trading of flexible energy assets across European markets. You own the data science roadmap and drive production systems that translate forecasts into revenue. You mentor fellow data scientists while collaborating with software engineers and product managers to deliver scalable, impact-driven solutions. You will tackle the hardest problems, balancing machine learning with optimization in a fast-moving energy trading context.

• Research, develop, and productize trading algorithms and models to optimize financial returns
• Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for trading the flexibility of assets
• Own the data science roadmap, aligning methodology, success metrics, and system design across teams
• Lead delivery of complex, large-scale projects from research to production deployment and monitoring
• Mentor data scientists through design/code reviews and structured feedback
• Promote engineering rigor: testing, observability, and reproducibility for production analytics code

• 7+ years of applied data science experience with trading algorithms in energy or finance
• Deep understanding of trading mechanics: price formation, market microstructure, risk, and live strategy constraints
• University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field
• Strong Python skills and software engineering practices: testing, code review, CI/CD, monitoring, modular design
• Proven track record shipping ML/optimization models to production on AWS or other clouds
• Experience mentoring junior data scientists and raising technical standards
• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills
