Global Packaging Engineer (m/f/d)

In this role you lead global packaging initiatives from concept to site implementation. You serve as the technical owner for packaging compliance and sustainability, with emphasis on PPWR and related requirements. You develop standards across the packaging lifecycle and ensure alignment with legal and customer expectations. You collaborate across Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Operations and IT to build efficient compliance systems and data management. You translate regulatory trends into practical strategies to improve recyclability, cost, and quality.

• Lead global packaging projects from development to production site implementation
• Own packaging compliance and sustainability topics, focusing on PPWR and related requirements
• Develop and maintain packaging standards across the entire lifecycle
• Establish and manage data collection, recyclability assessments, technical documentation and supplier compliance processes
• Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Operations and IT to build packaging compliance systems and master data
• Ensure technical feasibility for packaging solutions in production, filling, logistics and transport
• Continuously optimize packaging for recyclability, sustainability, cost and operational efficiency
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate trends into actionable strategies
• Support customer discussions and handle packaging inquiries and complaints in a solution-oriented way

• Degree in Packaging Technology, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or comparable field
• Several years of experience in packaging development, engineering or compliance
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, systems and manufacturing processes
• Desirable: experience with packaging sustainability, recyclability assessments, PPWR, EPR or related regulations
• Experience with packaging data management, SAP or similar systems
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions
• Proactive, structured, solution-oriented mindset with excellent communication
• Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
