Power Electronics Design Engineer (m/f/d)

Overview

In this role you will design inverters and power electronic components for battery electric vehicles within a multicultural Technology & Innovation team. You’ll drive complete development cycles from concept to prototype testing, collaborating with mechanical, system, and simulation engineers. You’ll shape next-generation power electronics for mass-market eMobility, balancing performance, reliability and manufacturability. This position offers hands-on design impact and a clear path to product roadmaps in a fast-moving automotive context.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Create complete schematics and BOMs for next-generation power electronic components with emphasis on the power path (traction inverters).
  • Review and approve electrical design requirements for power electronics.
  • Perform circuit design optimizations and implement innovative concepts.
  • Compare and evaluate various design concepts and components.
  • Develop optimized inverter designs in collaboration with Mechanical Engineers and System Architects.
  • Conduct electrical simulations and work closely with simulation engineers.
  • Lead PCB layout activities with ECAD engineers; organize schematic and layout reviews.
  • Support prototype builds and conduct functional hardware bench testing and verification.
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable field
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering within power electronics
  • Deep knowledge of circuit design, PCB layout processes and PCB design tools
  • Experience with power semiconductors (SiC/Si CMOS? note: list as given) and automotive power electronics: gate drivers, isolated supplies, protection functions
  • Experience in high-voltage inverter development: power stage design, DC-link, sensing, thermal management, system integration
  • Understanding of modern system simulation methodologies for high-voltage systems
  • Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Ansys, PSpice/LTspice
  • Strong knowledge of EMC design practices and compliance requirements
  • Basic understanding of Functional Safety according to ISO 26262
  • Proficient in MS Office, CAD tools, and simulation software
