R&D Senior Engineer - Power Electronics for Power Transformers

Overview

In this role you will drive the development and delivery of innovative power electronics solutions for power transformers. You will lead cross‑functional collaborations, define project needs, and contribute to the technology roadmap while ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence. You will help shape Hitachi Energy’s capabilities in power electronics for transformers.

Verantwortungsbereiche

Review current state of the art in Power Electronics for the energy sector
Assess and define transformer-related power electronics applications across devices of varying size
Define needs and specifications for prospective projects
Act as the primary spokesperson for power electronics topics in internal discussions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate power electronics into products
Contribute to technology roadmap and strategic direction in power electronics
Prepare technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials
Identify leading third parties and foster external partnerships (customers, universities, research centers)
Maintain overview of IP and develop project-related IP strategies
Identify and manage risks in R&D projects and support risk management efforts

Zentrale Anforderungen

MS degree in Electrical Engineering (PhD in Electronics or Industrial Engineering valuable)
Minimum 5 years of experience in Power Electronics in R&D, engineering, or academic research
Experience with Solid State Transformers is valuable
Ability to apply external and internal standards and regulations
Awareness of IP considerations in R&D
Structured, problem-solving, self-driven mindset
Innovative and iterative thinking
Strong teamwork in international settings and excellent interpersonal skills
Strong written and spoken English
