Presales Systems Engineer - KRITIS Utilities

Overview

As a Systems Engineer in KRITIS utilities, you will drive technical pre-sales and post-sales activities to showcase Fortinet’s security portfolio. You’ll serve as a domain expert, shaping solutions for enterprise customers and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your work supports sales by demonstrating value, designing architectures, and guiding PoCs and RfXs. This role offers exposure to critical infrastructure customers and impactful security implementations.

Verantwortungsbereiche

Undertake technical demonstrations and articulate Fortinet business value within the assigned district
Maintain deep knowledge of FortiOS and core security technologies; serve as SME across domains
Manage use cases, competitive intelligence, and differentiation for opportunities
Create and qualify sales opportunities with a technical lens; identify upsell/cross-sell potential
Lead technical sales engagements from queries to demos, PoCs, and integration discussions
Provide architecture guidance and best-practice recommendations for strategic deals
Act as trusted advisor and maintain technical relationships with customers
Coordinate with escalation, support, and engineering teams to resolve issues
Collaborate with Consulting System Engineers, Solution Architects, and Partners on complex opportunities
Capture customer requirements and relay them to Product Management; support enablement events

Zentrale Anforderungen

Minimum 5 years in pre-sales support with proven success
Expert networking and security knowledge (LAN/WAN, SDN, routing, switching, Next-Gen Firewalls, IDS, encryption)
Strong customer focus and proactive, adaptable attitude
Willingness to travel 20-50%
Excellent German and English communication; ability to interact with senior stakeholders
Deep experience in installation and configuration of network devices, UNIX/Linux/Windows, virtualization, containers, public clouds; scripting (Ansible, Terraform, Python); API knowledge
