Senior Firmware Engineer, Industrial Robotics Group

In this role you will help develop advanced robotic systems that combine AI, control, and mechanical design to enable safe, scalable automation at Amazon’s scale. You will work within cross-functional teams to shape architectures, implement complex features, and push the performance and reliability of robotic platforms. You’ll tackle challenging problems in manipulation, locomotion, and human–robot interaction while contributing to safety-certified solutions. • Develop and maintain novel robotic systems
• Contribute to architectural design of complex systems and collaborate with peers to solve difficult problems
• Provide feedback during peer reviews and communicate with technical leadership
• Contribute to development of innovative solutions in a fast-paced R&D environment
• Engineer solutions balancing performance and reliability to elevate both
• Master components including networking/WiFi, security, navigation, obstacle detection, motor control, robot control, functional safety related control, and sensors

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming in at least one language
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of systems
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead
• Proficiency with C/C++ and Python
• Hands-on Linux experience including device drivers and multicore systems
• Diagnosing and debugging complex, multi-variable systems
• Embedded or real-time OS experience (e.g., Free RTOS, RT Linux, Micrium)
• Experience as a team member or technical lead on a complex project
• Preferred: low-level board bring-up or HAL/BSP for custom hardware
• Preferred: RF/wireless communications (802.11)
• Preferred: sensors such as cameras or 3DTOF
• Preferred: safety-certified systems (IEC 61508)
• Preferred: handling large data sets and AWS
