Overview

In this role you will own the electromagnetic design and production-ready development of high-torque, cost-efficient electric motors and integrated actuator systems for scalable robotic platforms at Amazon. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate concepts into manufacturable hardware and drive performance, reliability, and cost improvements. You will manage external motor vendors and contract design partners to deliver integrated modules from concept to volume production. This role offers hands-on design, analysis, and collaboration at scale in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will contribute to shaping motor technology and manufacturing approaches for next‑g‑

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Design, model, and optimize BLDC and PMSM motors for robotic joint actuators across various configurations
  • Perform electromagnetic FEA to predict performance, losses, cogging, and thermal behavior
  • Develop manufacturing-focused motor concepts and DFM specifications for cost-efficient volume production
  • Collaborate with gear, mechanical, controls, and firmware teams to deliver integrated actuator modules
  • Manage vendor relationships for laminations, windings, magnets, and contract motor design partners
  • Define and validate motor test protocols for performance, efficiency, and thermal characteristics
  • Drive continuous improvements in cost, efficiency, torque density, and reliability
  • Generate and maintain motor specifications, drawings, and design documentation
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in electrical theory, robotics, controls components, or automated equipment
  • Experience interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience managing external vendors and co-design partnerships for motor components
  • Experience with motor design and electromagnetic FEA software (JMAG, Ansys Maxwell, MotorCAD, SPEED, or equivalent)
